Sofie Wilgenhof, MD, PhD, is a medical oncologist at the Antoni van Leeuwenhoek Hospital Amsterdam, The Netherlands.  She achieved her MD form the Medical School at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel in Belgium in 2009. Following this, she was a PhD student at the Laboratory for Molecular and Cellular Therapy at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel until 2013, working on dendritic cell-based immunotherapy in melanoma patients. 

From 2009-2017 she did her residency in internal medicine and medical oncology at the University Hospital in Brussels, including a 2-year oncology fellowship at the Antoni van Leeuwenhoek Hospital in Amsterdam. Since 2017 she works as a medical oncologist at the Antoni van Leeuwenhoek Hospital.  

Her main research interests include immunotherapy, melanoma and kidney cancer.
