Lars Lund took up the position as chief physician and professor at the Department of Urology in Odense and the University of Southern Denmark on 1 October 2012. Has been an adjunct professor at the Department of Urology at Aalborg Hospital since 2015. Lars Lund's research areas are cryocoagulation (freezing treatment) of cancer especially in the kidney area, shared care and liquid biopsy in prostate – and kidney cancer, ESWT (Shock wave treatment e.g. impotence and peyronie´s disease and finally laparoscopic surgery.
Lars Lund was born in Aalborg, and in 1975 he graduated from Aalborghus high school. He passed his medical exam from Aarhus University in 1984. The surgical and urological education took place in Aalborg, Randers, Urological Department Skejby. He went for a one-year stay in the Pediatric Surgery Department, Prince of Wales University Hospital in Hong Kong. In 1994 he became a specialist in surgery and in 1998 in urology. Lars Lund has since 1998 been employed as chief physician and chair in urology at Viborg Hospital, interrupted by a year's stay at Vanderbilt University, Nashville, Tennessee in 2006.
He defended his doctoral dissertation on varicocele testis in 2001.
In his career, Lars Lund has taught in several places, including as a clinical lecturer at Randers Hospital, Aarhus University Hospital, Skejby and Aarhus University, as well as at professional national and international meetings. Now he teaches at SDU in urological diseases both in barchelor and the master's part. Lars Lund has been an undergraduate clinical associate professor since 1994 and a postgraduate clinical associate professor in urology at CEPOME, Aarhus University in the period 2003 to 2012. Lars Lund has published over 170 peer reviewed articles. Has been and is the main supervisor for more than 10 Ph-D students. He is a member of several committees locally, Chair of the Danish Urological Society, President of Darenca (the national multidisciplinary group for kidney cancer), and president of Norenca (Nordic kidney cancer group).
