Dr. Yüksel Ürün is a professor of medicine in the Department of Medical Oncology of Ankara University School of Medicine, Türkiye. He has been a part of Ankara University School of Medicine since 2009 and also completed his clinical fellowship in medical oncology in the same institute. After completing his fellowship, Dr. Ürün also gained valuable research experience as a research fellow in Dana Farber Cancer Institute, Harvard Medical School in Boston, USA under Prof. Toni Choueiri mentorship. After returning to Turkey, Dr. Ürün established the Turkish Oncology Group Kidney Cancer Consortium (TKCC) and has led the Turkish Medical Oncology Society's genitourinary cancers guidelines group. He is an active member of various international and national oncology organizations, including the EORTC GU group, the Advanced Prostate Cancer Consensus Conference (APCCC), and serves as a faculty member in the ESMO Genitourinary Tumors, Prostate group and ESMO Clinical Medicine Committee. He is also a participant in the American Society of Clinical Oncology’s (ASCO) Leadership Development Program class of 2023-2024. Dr. Ürün's research interests include the epidemiology, diagnosis, biomarkers, meta-analysis, and treatment outcomes of genitourinary cancers. As a principal investigator for numerous clinical trials and has published over 100 peer-reviewed articles, presentations, and book chapters. Dr. Ürün is committed to improving patient care, promoting diversity and equity in education, and enhancing the representation and engagement of underrepresented groups in clinical trials.
