Mr James Blackmur is a Senior Clinical Fellow in Urology at Addenbrooke’s Hospital and the Early Cancer Institute, University of Cambridge, UK. After graduating from the University of Edinburgh, he undertook his early clinical training in Scotland. He completed an Edinburgh Clinical Academic Track (ECAT)-linked CRUK PhD Fellowship at the Institute of Genetics and Cancer, University of Edinburgh under the supervision of Prof Malcolm Dunlop and Prof Susan Farrington, using human samples and human-derived organoids to investigate gene-environment interactions between vitamin D and colorectal cancer risk. He completed his higher surgical training as an ECAT SCREDS Clinical Lecturer in Edinburgh, before moving to Cambridge for a post-CCT Fellowship in renal surgery. He has undertaken and published clinical and basic science studies, with his current focus on small renal masses and on malignant ureteric obstruction.
